Im Anto Malkonian, a senior fashion design major at The Fashion Institute of Technology. I am Armenian and have lived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates my entire life and moved to New York to kick off my fashion journey.

My work is rooted in the art of blending opposites to create harmonious yet striking visuals. Juxtaposing hard and soft elements, shattering masculine and feminine ideals, and allowing minimalism and maximalism to coexist. Drawing inspiration from past life, art, history, and fashion with a forward thinking approach. Creating designs that honor the legacy of what has come before while embracing the possibilities of the future. My designs also embody an essence of Wabi-Sabi, a traditional Japanese aesthetic philosophy centered around the charm that comes from imperfection and the unfinished. This invites wearers to embrace the unique qualities such as subtle irregularities and quirks that tell a story while also shining a light on the beauty of individuality.

I am dedicated to the incorporation of sustainability through natural dyeing practices, unconventional materials, upcycling, and crafty methods. In minimalistic styles, I emphasize on simplicity and functionality— focusing on clean lines, neutral palettes, and versatile pieces that can transition its wear. On the other hand with maximalism, I integrate fabric manipulation, imaginative shapes, deconstructive nature, and rich textures.
